Every time I return to Winnipeg to visit family and friends, I can never say no to visit to The Forks with its familiar charm and inviting ambiance. Whether it’s the warmth of summer evenings or the crisp chill of winter days, this classic spot never fails to make me feel at home, surrounded by its cozy eateries and inviting drink spots. It’s no wonder why The Forks remains a timeless destination for photography in the city, offering a perfect backdrop for everything from casual selfies with friends to more formal portraits.

Recently, I had the pleasure of conducting a winter mini photo shoot with a delightful couple, Reg and Gabbie, at The Forks. Although the shoot day landed on one of the colder days Winnipeg has had this winter, we still had a great time taking some awesome photos!
To kick off the shoot, I encouraged Reg and Gabbie to relax and be themselves in front of the camera. I find that starting with some simple, easy poses helps to break the ice and allows couples to infuse their own personalities and dynamics into each shot. After all, capturing genuine moments is what truly brings a photograph to life.
I have always been partial to a nice “walk and talk” photo because they always turn out so authentic and in my experience are often a favorite.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the city, we made our way to the top of the Forks Market Tower. From this vantage point, we found the perfect backdrop for our final few photos, it was truly an unforgettable scene.
